At just three months old, this adorable puppy was picked up by animal control and taken to a very high-kill shelter. Despite his tender age, he was thrown into kennels with adult dogs. When we saw him, he looked so out of place, we realized he was just a baby trying to survive in an adult's world. The shelter staff told us that other rescues had turned him down and that Carmel was likely to be euthanized if no one stepped up for him. We couldn't let that happen. We immediately brought Carmel into the safety and warmth of foster care, and it was one of the best decisions we've ever made. Carmel is quite literally the sweetest boy we've ever met. This little fluff ball has captured our hearts with his innocent and precious demeanor. Despite his rough start, Carmel has shown an incredible capacity for love and trust. We have started him on crate training, and to our delight, he seems to really enjoy it. His crate is his little sanctuary where he feels safe and secure. Carmel is also very new to walking on a leash, but we're working on conditioning him, and he’s making progress every day. We suspect Carmel is a Great Pyrenees and shepherd mix, which explains his stunning green eyes and his gentle, protective nature.
