My Story

Poor ol’ Captain Jack was found along side a road in rural Alexander. Very thin and covered in fleas, he was at first difficult to rescue because he was afraid and cautious. Patience and kind words spoken softly and with sincerity did the trick, and Captain Jack soon found himself safely in the care of kind Samaritans. He is still a little skittish, large arm or fast movements tend to cause him to retreat, but he will come back willingly with soothing talk. An orchestra conductor might not be the best companion for Captain Jack right now. Life is starting to look a little brighter for Captain Jack, he likes to take walks and sticks close to his people even when off leash. He is still cautious at this stage, but he is getting more secure. With a little patience and love, Captain Jack will do well. He has started coming in to the house of his foster/guardians, and enjoys getting petted and attention. He doesn't seem to have an abundance of energy but seems to do well with one longish walk in the evening. He is unobtrusive and will ask for affection without being overbearing. He is timid to new things but is getting more secure and curious as he becomes accustomed to his new environment. He is very affectionate and hasn't barked at all. He seems to take correction well and learns quickly. He plays very well with an older male dog at his foster home, but doesn't bother a female who has made it clear that his attention isn't welcome. Captain Jack has started to play chase in the yard with his foster family. Captain Jack is a young male terrier mix who is gentle, smart, and attentive so he should be very easy to train. He can already walk on a leash without pulling or other ado, and his foster family is working on basic manner obedience. Captain Jack is an independent rescue supported by DogsOnly, and so may not be attending every DogsOnly adoption showing at Petco in west Little Rock, but if you would like to learn more or even meet him, you are invited to send an email to his rescuers at [email protected]. You can also complete an online adoption application by clicking the orange colored links at the top or bottom of his official bio page located at http://www.dogsonly.org/214pop.html or send an email to [email protected]. You application or emails will be sent to Bliss’ foster guardian without delay. If you don’t find that special companion you are looking for in the DogsOnly rescue, rehabilitation, and re-home program then please visit Last Chance Arkansas or one of the many other central Arkansas rescue organizations to save a rescued canine companion.
