Meet Captain Jack!!!!

UPDATE 12/2/08: Captain Jack had his follow-up vet visit yesterday! He is now 12 weeks old, weighs 9.4 lbs (up from 4.8 lbs, 4 weeks ago) and is doing great! He is definitely using both front legs and gets around better than his foster mom! LOL We do not believe that anything needs to be done about his leg right now and hopefully never. Jack has now had all 3 sets of puppy vaccines and will be neutered soon. He's ready to go!!!!!

Like all good Pirates, Captain Jack is missing a foot. My sweet foster baby was turned in to a local Animal Shelter because his family said they didn't want him. (I just can not imagine and neither could you, if you'd met him!)

My little Jack is an absolute JOY to have around! He has charmed everyone that he's met so far and he's met lots of people. He's already met adults and kids, as well as meeting several other dogs. We're working on his house training and he's doing very well. He's already crate trained so that's a big plus! (He likes his playpen best! He'll play happily for most of the day in there.)

Jack is about 10 weeks old now (11/18/2008). He has had 2 sets of puppy vaccines and will get the 3rd set in two more weeks. He will also be neutered very soon. Jack has seen a Vet and we're giving him a chance to see if he will use his leg before making any decision on amputation. At worst, he may lose the one front leg but I'm sure that he will adapt quickly as he wasn't using it when he came to me anyway.

Jack needs a special home with a special family. He should have an inside home and it would be best if he doesn't have to be alone for hours and hours each day. (He is very small for his breed and will likely stay on the small side of breed standard.)

If you would like to be considered for Jack's new family, please email me at [email protected]. I would be happy to send an adoption application to you. Vet references and a home visit will be required.
