Candy

Candy is a Rhodesian Ridgeback-mix (we believe), approx 6 yrs old, about 50 lbs. We got her when she was just weeks old from an animal rescue in Placitas. She has all her shots, is fixed and chipped and is current on heartworm meds. She's housebroken and uses a doggie-door. She's a good watch dog, with a fearsome bark but she is actually afraid of people, but gets used to new people after a few days. She is very gentle, and in-tuned to emotions; even if we cough she'll come to us looking concerned. I don’t believe she does well with cats based on a few instances where she and our Jack Russell chased and trapped our neighbor’s cat beneath our shed, but that may be from copying our Jack Russell. She tends to be a bit skittery when walked on a leash in our neighborhood, so walks can at times be sightly difficult. Walks go slightly better in the open-area behind our house. She would probably do well on a farm, or house on a big lot. She loves looking over our wall at passersby. She loves being around us and is very home-bound; she won't even leave the yard if a gate is left open. She knows “sit” and “stay”, although stay can be very short-lived. She is occasionally playful, she'll bring a toy and play tug and will sometimes fetch a toy or stick. We are looking for a new home for her due to her owners medical issues.
