If some of you remember her story, Candace arrived on December 15th. She was a stray living in a trailer park and continued to get pregnant. The people living at the park contacted us about her puppy, the last one left of the litter. It’s difficult to even think about what happened to the other litter mates. When our volunteer went to pick up the puppy, the people in the park said, “Might as well take this one, she keeps getting pregnant and belongs to no one”. We happily scooped her up and brought her into our rescue. The people in the park communicated Candace had had a minimum of 3 litters, back-to-back. We were thankful to get her into our rescue. Candace is the name of her foster mom’s neighbor ……… we are always looking for dog names. When we took Candace to our vet, it was discovered she was heartworm positive. She was moved to a wonderful, quiet foster home to prepare her for heartworm treatment. Since then, Candace has been spayed, totally vetted, and went through heartworm treatment. She is now on monthly prevention. This dog is incredible. Her first foster mom didn’t want her to leave. Candace is gentle, warm, sweet, attentive, loving and the absolute most loving dog. She has been through so much and since her arrival, she has been loved beyond measure. Her foster mom is retired and often travels to visit family, so they do not own their own dog. They are a wonderful foster couple who loves to help the little ones who need it the most. Candace has been with them for several months now, but she is finished on her treatment and ready for her own forever family. Candace gets along with everything. Her first foster mom had cats and there were no issues. Such a sweet girl.
