My Story

Callie Breed: Catahoula Leopard Hound Mix Age: 3 year +/- est Weight: 40 lbs Medical: Up-To Up-To-Date on Vaccinations, microchipped, spayed Cat Friendly: No Dog Friendly: Yes Kid Friendly: Ages 8+ House Trained: Yes Crate Trained: Yes Location: South Carolina Callie is a very loving, high energy, and an attention needing love bug. She thrives on have a job to keep her focused and she could use a challenge. She would exceed in anything you put her to do as long as you take the time and patience with her. She loves to run all around the yard, she never gets tired. When she is inside, she does love to counter-surf, always following her nose, looking for a snack. She does love to be outside the most, so if you are looking for hiking, running, walking or just a camping buddy – so she would be it! Callie loves to cuddle, and she has lived with young children, however she doesn’t quite understand that the kids come first in the cuddle realm. She also doesn’t understand that she needs to not play NASCAR around the wee little ones. With that being said, we recommend slightly older children in the home. She has been great with other dogs; however, all bets are off when it comes to them near her food bowl and crate. She can at times be a little insecure about her belongings and will need some work on that. As far as leash walking, Callie does well, could always use more practice! After your application is approved, the foster parent for the dog you have selected will contact you to answer any questions you may have and determine if that dog is a good match for your family. If you have no particular dog in mind, we will be happy to keep your application on file and notify you if the right dog should come into rescue. Catahoula Rescue of New England is an all-volunteer group. Dogs in our program are fostered by volunteers. The foster homes care for our dogs as if they were their own. All dogs have received vaccinations appropriate to age and are spayed or neutered. Callie’s adoption donation is $350 which includes Rabies, DHLPP, Bordetella, fecal test, heartworm test, is on preventative, microchip and neuter depending on age at time of adoption. If the dog is too young for a spay/neuter then they will be adopted with a spay/neuter contract and deposit. We do not have a physical shelter; all our dogs are fostered in individual foster homes across the New England and Canada.
