My Story

Callie is a sweet 2 year old 5 lb Chihuahua from the NYCACC. She is shy at firstmeets and loves to give kisses! She has adjusted very well during her time in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Callie's favorite activity is curling up on her human like a little donut and napping. She also sofa lounging with wooing eyes that long for belly rubs, exploring community gardens, and making friends with humans that offer treats. She has just started to play! She is learning sit and working on other obedience training. Callie bonds with humans quickly, especially men. She is a lover of laps, and likes to go everywhere with her human - she's a true velcro dog! She is a little protective and can try to guard her human from other dogs that approach, but she is making strides thanks to the patience of her Chihuahua foster siblings. She sleeps in bed with her foster human and her dogs amicably! Callie is smart and making fast improvement with positive reinforcement. Her adoptive family will need to continue working with Callie to reinforce and advance the progress she's been making in leash walking. The streets of NYC are scary for a tiny dog like her! While being attached to her human, Callie is totally chill when left home alone. When given free range of the apartment she is not destructive and gets along amicably with her Chihuahua foster siblings. Due to her tiny size we'd recommend only older children for Callie. She'd be a great go-to-work dog and would be fine as a solo dog or with another pup in the household as long as there are two laps! Vaccinated for rabies, DHPP, and bordetella. Heartworm negative and microchipped. Needs neuter. Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. To apply for Callie, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the dog is on our website, they are still available. Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable dog, or final size of any of our adoptable puppies. We rely on the information provided to us by veterinarians, shelters, owner surrenders and other circumstances bringing the dog into our rescue. Adoptions: [email protected]
