My name is Cabela. I am a 3 year old neutered Chihuahua. I am current on all of my shots and have been heartworm tested (Negative) To explain my personality, you need to know my background. My first owner was abusive to me and I was left alone in a home for over a month before I was adopted by my second family. Because of my past, I was very skittish when I was adopted. It took me over a week to get used to my new home and owners. They had grandchildren who visited often, which isn’t a good fit for me so my second owner gave me to her uncle, whom I adored. Unfortunately, he was found deceased in his home – I was with him when he was found. As you can see, in my 3 short years, I have been through an awful lot, leaving me non trusting of new people (can you blame me?). I need someone to help me learn to trust people again. A home with no children is a requirement for me. Additionally, I can be selective to the dogs I like, so it would be best if I am an only dog. I will need someone who is patient and willing to take their time with me. I must get to know you before you are able to touch me (this can take 1-2 weeks). Once I trust you, I will be your best friend and snuggle buddy. I will probably never be the dog that you can leave out when you have company over, but that doesn’t mean I don’t deserve a loving home.
