My Story

Buttercup - (AKA, "Butter") female puppy (4/5 months of age) - Shepherd/Collie mix best guess - medium to long VERY silky coat - black, tan and white - predicted to be medium sized when grown

This wonderfully loving and responsive puppy is Buttercup, a little female whose breed combinations we presume to include Shepherd and Collie. She is keenly intelligent, expectant, and beautifully socialized.

Buttercup has benefited from devoted foster care by a professional wildlife rehabilitator, who has delighted in Buttercup's training and rearing, and "Butter" seems to reflect all the effort and imagination that has been focused on her development. She is lithe, beautiful, and filled with curiousity and gentle respect for her surroundings.

Buttercup is impeccably housetrained, and for a puppy of such young age, she is remarkably calm and well-trained. She has a good set of basic commands down pat, and she tries earnestly to temper her natural energies with her understanding of what is appropriate. Buttercup loves a game of fetch, and bounds happily about the yard, eager to investigate the wondrous mysteries of life on a wildlife sanctuary.

Extremely tactile, Buttercup loves to cuddle and be held. She has exceptionally good eye contact, and she studies each person she meets openly and intently before she lavishes them with soft kisses. She has learned to rely on her care-provider for cues whenever she encounters a new experience; consequently, she is very confident and stable without being pushy or nervous.

Buttercup loves other dogs and of course, she is excellent and gentle around cats. Her primary allegiance, however, is to humans, whom she reveres because of the love and joy she has experienced in foster care. She will bond profoundly with an adoptive family, who can expect from her the full measure of a great and innocent heart.
