If our dogs listed on Petfinder then they are still available for adoption (unless noted by a "pending") and they will stay listed until we find them the right homes with our adoption paperwork all finished. Thanks.

This breed of hunting dogs is too noisy and active for most apartments so please do not fill in our paperwork if you do not have a secure, fenced yard unless the dog personality details below tells you they are suitable for apartments. Thanks.

We also do not recommend wieners for children under age 7 as Dachshunds will bite to defend themselves if the children are too active or hurt this breed of dogs. Dachshunds are too smart to allow themselves to be abused.

These dogs are hunting dogs, even the tiny ones, which means that most have a very high prey drive so they will hunt your cats, ferrets, birds, etc. and kill or hurt them unless noted below in their details. Mine here are always killing moles and mice all over our farm and they do leave my barn cats alone because I have trained them to do so, but that is against their nature.

And overfeeding a Dachshund is the worst thing anyone can do with this breed. If you can't resist sad eyes and keep them on a strict diet then this is not the breed for you unless you like vet bills later for bad backs or other obesity issues. These dogs need exercise constantly to stay in hunting shape.

Meet Buddy D as we always have a few by the same name lloking for homes so please give us the letter too. He was turned in because he has no patience for children under age 7 and he had a rowdy 4-year-old in his last home. Buddy is a calm, sedate, lap loving baby boy and younger kids are not his thing. He is six we were told but we feel he is a bit older like age 8. He was in his last home just a couple of weeks and they found out right away he did not like younger kids but did great with the older ones.

Buddy D will be available for adoption towards the end of January after we know him a bit better. Right now he gets along with all our dogs and we will be test driving on cats soon. But so far so sweet and kind. He moved in and took over the couch in front of the wood stove, happy as can be snoring with the rest of the wieners. So if you know someone who wants an older one he would be perfect for most situations as nothing bothers him. And he is housebroke to death. We like seniors here as they are never any trouble and same goes for Buddy here.

This guy loves to explore so we still request he get a fenced yard please. When he is zooming he is too active for an apartment which is typical of this breed,.
