Three year old Buddy is one big hunk of Chocolate! He came to us from a pretty unfortunate situation and is a bit hefty at 85-90 pounds – more about that in a minute. Buddy is working his way to a trim 70ish pounds in his foster home. He’s an extremely happy and loving dog who seeks and gives a lot of love. Always ready to lean in for some petting, he’s a very affectionate guy.
Believe it or not, this sweetheart of a Lab lived his whole life on a chain in a dirt yard. His only shelter from the weather was a chewed up plastic dog crate. He’s been incredibly forgiving about this start in life. Buddy relished the bath his foster mom gave him upon arrival, quickly learned the doggie door and easily became buddies with his foster brother who usually doesn’t interact much with fosters. He kisses him regularly! Buddy likes to show off his perfect sit, is quite good about coming when called and delighted to have some toys to play with. On the leash he’s a bit of a puller, so a Gentle Leader will be best.
As one of our volunteers mentioned, “No more chain gang for our Buddy. When he arrived at Safe Harbor, it was truly the first day of the rest of his life!” And how he’d love spending that life with you!
