Buddha is a charismatic and cuddly little male Weimaraner / Australian Shepherd mix puppy who knows how to relax. Born in early December as a stray, Buddha managed to survive long enough to be picked up by Little Rock Animal Services and was taken to the pound. Buddha will be a very large dog, he is about 10-12 weeks and weighs about 20 pounds. He is a beautiful slate blue with copper highlights. His brother is a black tri-color and looks just like a Berner pup. Their paws are as large as the palm of my hand.
Fortunately Buddha, who is now around 10 eight weeks old, was pulled from the pound by a visiting volunteer from DogsOnly. Euthanasia is not the only grim fate faced by these puppies in the pound, where diseases like Parvo and Distemper can run rampant in the crowed conditions. Buddha sports a beautiful blue pelt and loves to play and horse around with everyone. Buddha is a little nervous around large adult dogs, probably because of his experience in the pound, yet he remains happy and attentive. He would love to have a family to keep him company and play with. He is a real people pleaser and would do best in a home with someone who has experience raising a young puppy or someone who is willing to commit the time and training for a very young dog.
Buddha is an energetic young puppy, and will probably grow up to be a first-class canine companion, but he is not for a family seeking an "easy" puppy, because there is no such thing. Please remember that as beautiful and cuddly as Buddha is at the moment, he will grow into an adult canine companion in no time at all. You should also be prepared for the usual trial of rearing a young puppy including the chewing, crying, potty training, and constant demands. For this reason we would prefer that Buddha’s new guardians have experience with young puppies and understand their special needs. Remember, just like kids, they grow up real fast, and need lots of patience, love and attention along the way.
You can meet Buddha at the west Little Rock Petco on Chenal Parkway across from Target and Home Depot every Sat and Sun from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Please be sure and call (501-219-9907) before you come to visit him to make sure that he is still available for adoption. Buddha has received a complete medical evaluation, all shots, rabies, fecal and worming medication, flea/tick preventative, heartworm preventative, micro-chipping, grooming, and will be altered as soon as he’s old enough. If you think that Buddha would make the perfect addition to your family, you are invited to send an email to
[email protected] or complete an online adoption application by clicking the orange text links at the top or bottom of her official bio page located at www.dogsonly.org/270pop.html.
If you don’t find that special companion you are looking for in the DogsOnly rescue, rehabilitation, and re-home program then please visit Last Chance Arkansas or one of the many other central Arkansas rescue organizations to save a rescued canine companion.
