My Story

Bruin is a seven-month-old puppy who came to Lollypop Farm when his owner had to move in with family and Bruin wasn't able to go along. Now this happy, people-loving boy is looking for a new home to finish growing up in, and we're all hoping it might be yours. Like most puppies his age, Bruin is still a bundle of energy. He needs plenty of physical exercise and also mental stimulation. Long walks - we recommend you use a harness - and play sessions will work his body and his brain. Taking him on a "sniffari to new places is a great strategy, because new sights and smells will be exciting for him. If the weather keeps you inside, puzzle games and play sessions will engage his brain and also burn off energy. Positive-reinforcement training is a great way to bond with a new dog and also challenge him to think. Bruin loves treats, and a dog who loves treats is always fun to train. He already knows how to sit and stay when asked, so you can enjoy teaching him the rest of the basic commands and maybe even some tricks. As he gets older, you might even want to give more specialized training - like nosework, agility or Rally-O - a try. More great things to know about Bruin: He settles quickly into his crate for a snooze, he's almost completely housetrained, and he's good in the car. He's also lived happily with another dog, and he enjoys dog parks. What's not to love? Bruin had a fifteen-year-old human sibling in his previous home, and we think he would do well with children who are at least six years old. We'd like to have the whole family come to the shelter to meet him, so we can make sure everyone fits together happily. If you already have a dog - or several - at home, we'd like to do their first meet'n'greet here, too. That way we can make sure their energy levels and play styles mesh well. Got cats? Bruin hasn't met any cats yet, but your counselor can give you tips for low-stress introductions at home. Is Bruin calling your name? Why not hop in the car and head out to the shelter? Everyone here at Lollypop Farm - especially Bruin and our other available dogs - would love to say hi, and one lucky dog might even hit the jackpot and get to go home with you.
