My Story

Brando is a very active young boy and is about 17 months old in these pictures taken May 8, 2009. He was found sitting in the middle of the highway watching cars drive by. He was also wearing a choke collar that was too small and had to be cut off. Brando is a happy fella that wants to constantly play and run. He likes to play with kids and dogs and toys. He would be a great addition to an active family that likes to run or hike or go places.

UPDATE - May 9, 2009 from his foster family:
Brando is really a fun dog.  Still very much a pup with lots of energy.  He could play fetch for hours and I play with him for about 15-20 minutes at a time. Wants to play with other dogs, and tries, but doesn't understand my dogs' ques for lack of a better word.  So he gets scared and runs back to me when they bark at him.  They are bigger than he is too. Brando wants to play with the cat too but Figaro will have nothing to do with him.  He just hisses, Brando barks and goes away.

He prefers to be next to you sleeping if he isn't playing with stuffed toys.  BOY DOES HE LOVE TOYS!  The first night I had him, he went and gathered up all of the stuffed toys he could find and put them on the couch next to me.  My lab, Roger, just looked at me as if to say 'Hey what the...' lol

Brando spent hours tossing the toys up and catching them. Jumping up and down off the couch getting them and such.  He knows how to entertain himself.  Brando is semi-house trained.  He seems to get lost in the fact that he needs to go out and just stops and does it.  Now if I leave the door open, he goes in and out and we haven't doesn't have an accident. Because Brando is easily correctable, he should catch on fast to housebreaking with consistent training and reward.  He does, however, hate being put outside and seems to panic.  The boy just goes back and forth from one door to the next door and cries if no one is with him.  Could be some of the problem with his house training too.  He seems afraid that he is going to be left outside, alone and forgotten.  Maybe that is what happened to him at his first home.  I stay outside with him for a bit and play fetch with him, then go in and he does his business. Will let him in about 15 minutes later.

Brando is crate trained as I left him in one the first night. The second night, he was in the chained in area of my garage and did fine.  No chewing or accidents.

Overall a great dog that is sweet and loving. Gives kisses too.
