Donate Dober Duds Talk about a rough start…Bowen lived his first 9 years as an intact male living with a female (Sarah-who has already been adopted) in a backyard, as a breeding pair. Since IDR+ does not discriminate against dogs for any reason, Bowen was welcomed into the rescue and went straight to the veterinarian to be neutered. He is currently adjusting to life as a companion pet, in a house. He is a little shy, but once he gets comfortable he is a very loving dog. For Bowen, stairs were a challenge, but he quickly mastered the art of going up and down without any problem. Bowen is crate trained but quickly earned privileges to be out of his crate unsupervised. When sleeping outside his crate he really enjoys being covered up with a blanket, giving a huge sigh as he settles in. Bowen is currently living with 2 other Dobes, (1 male, 1 female) as well as 2 cats, that he lives with comfortably. He has very little prey drive, even towards the squirrels in our yard, so living with cats is not an issue. Bowen enjoys car rides and walks. When he arrived, Bowen did not know basic commands. To date, he has mastered; heal, sit and come. Considering he probably never left his previous home’s backyard, he is doing extremely well learning new situations. This dog is a friendly boy with tendencies towards smooshy, but he needs time to warm up to his people.
