My Story

Meet Bossier! This handsome chunk of squish is around 2 years old and 60lbs. He was saved from the euthanasia list of a rural kill shelter and is now patiently waiting in a foster home for his forever person to find him. Bossier is a goofy, clumsy and hilarious ball of personality. He adores his toys and would play all day if he could. He requires controlled introductions to new people, but once he's comfortable he is as loving as he is squishy. He has loved playing with canine foster siblings, although he does take several hours or days to trust their good intentions. He is house trained and crate trained and walks well on a leash, enjoying mellow walks around the neighborhood. He is still getting used to big city sounds and can be nervous of big vehicles and loud noises but don’t worry, he quickly became accustomed to sleeping with his head on a silk pillowcase in his foster mom's bed! Bossier is neutered, up to date on vaccinations and is being treated for heartworms, but shows no symptoms. He does suffer from the dreaded pittie allergies and will require seasonal cytopoint injections. Bossier is a Velcro dog and expert snuggler, and he will certainly keep you entertained all day long! PLEASE READ BELOW: If you are interested in meeting and/or adopting, the first step is to please visit our website to complete an application and read all of our FAQs: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/adopt **Please do not use the "Introduce Yourself" feature. The information needed to determine if you might be a match for one of our animals can only be found on our application. An inquiry, questions or introduction through Petfinder is NOT an application. All known details about our animals are posted on their profile and updated daily. Other info would be discussed in detail with the foster during the application review process. Due to the number of introductions/questions received (hundreds daily) we ask you submit an application on our website (that application can be used for any dog with Take Paws Rescue). The adoption fee for adult dogs covers age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, spay/neuter if not yet performed, heartworm test & appropriate heartworm treatment by the rescue's vet. All dogs in our care are also kept up-to-date on HW/Flea Prevention. Please see our website for more information. 2022 Adoption Fee Scale for non-benefactor animals: Puppies under 12 months - $350 Dogs over 12 months - $250 For additional information, including the adoption process and our adoption fee scale for all our adoptable pets, see our FAQs page: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/faq *Any breed labels used by Take Paws Rescue, its employees/volunteers, or on vet records provided cannot be guaranteed. Breed labels are given based on information obtained during intake and/or best guesses based on appearance and/or temperament of the dogs and Take Paws Rescue gives no assurance to the accuracy of these labels. Labels are necessary for postings to many animal networking sites, such as Pet Finder, and are no way a guarantee. Additionally, exact age and potential size cannot be guaranteed. *Take Paws Rescue saves dogs from high-kill shelters in Southeast Louisiana, owner surrenders, and discarded dogs with uncertain futures. All of our puppies live in foster homes where they are socialized, and well cared for. An application will be required to make sure it’s the perfect match!
