My Story

All HSWA dogs are either at our Dog Adoption Facility or in foster homes. All dogs require an appointment to meet. Please call us at 205-554-0011 or email [email protected] to request an appointment to see the dog/puppy and to check availability. This ultra-handsome boy is the entire package…stunning looks, friendly, and he lives every second with a joyful abandon that will not be denied! Boomer is an approximately 1-year-old, Labrador/Retriever/Newfoundland mix, with a thick silky black coat and a splash of white on his chest, gorgeous whiskey-colored eyes, and a beautiful black plume for a tail. He really is a handsome boy! He currently weighs about 56 pounds. Boomer was rescued when he was abandoned and picked up as a stray. He has a happy-go-lucky and energetic personality, is super friendly, has a lively curiosity about all that goes on around him, and loves to run around the yard and explore his surroundings and visit with his canine neighbors! Boomer loves attention and enjoys being petted, loves to play with toys, and he has a lot of youthful energy that would make him a great hiking partner. One of the sweetest and most endearing characteristics Boomer has is that he loves to hug people, and we mean literally hug you! This boy is definitely going to be a great snuggler! Boomer has the qualities which should make him a wonderful family pet, and he should be great with older children (he might accidently know over smaller, younger children with his youthful exuberance). He likes to spend time outside and run off a lot of that energy he has, but Boomer is not to be an outside dog only as he likes to be with his people – and that thick coat will be really hot during the summer. Boomer will definitely need a fenced yard if left outside unattended at all. He did fine with the other dogs he has been tested with so far, but would do best in a home with no cats. We have started on his crate training. Boomer is up to date on his vet care, is heartworm negative, and is scheduled to be microchipped and neutered soon. He is on heartworm and flea/tick prevention. This poster boy has it all: looks, personality, demeanor…the only thing he’s missing is a furever home! Could your home be what he needs to be complete? Our adoption fee is $125. Read more information on our adoption process at www.humanesocietyofwa.org/howtoadopt.html.
