My Story

Adopted!

Bonnie, 13 weeks, female, beagle (mom/coonhound (dad), should be medium sized dog, weighs 21 pounds now

This innocent looking little houndette is Bonnie, who was a "free to good home" puppy who was living out in the snow. One of our far-flung volunteers drove by and ended up taking home the rest of the litter -- Bonnie, her brother Rufus and a third dog, who she has since adopted.

Bonnie hangs back a little bit, and you might be mistaken into believing that she is too timid to ask for affection. Don't be fooled. She may act shy right now, but trust us -- she's figured out that sitting back and staring sadly at her human "prey" while other dogs flock around them demanding attention will make them say "AWW" and pick her up. In other words, she plays shy, but look carefully -- you'll find she calls a lot of the shots.

She is, we suspect, a smart little cookie who knows the advantages of strategic planning. It is all good-natured, of course. She doesn't have any dreams of world domination, just of lots of treats, affection and toys. Can you blame her for using her preposterous cuteness to do so?
