My Story

PLEASE READ ENTIRE POST AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION - BONDED PAIR - PENNY & MAISIE BREED - Shih tzu mix (Penny) Maltese mix (Maisie) SIZE - Penny: 10 pounds; Maisie: 15 pounds AGE - 3-4 years GENDER - Female MEDICAL CONCERNS - None known BEHAVIOR CONCERNS - None known SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS - Penny and Maisie are a bonded pair of lovely girls who recently came to us from our favorite WV shelter partner. These girls have always been together, and we are working to find a wonderful home dedicated to keeping them together. Both have gentle souls and sweet spirits and they are a joy to be around. They stick closely together and are generally found by each other's sides. They were clearly someone's beloved pets. Both girls are in good health, have been spayed and microchipped, fully vaccinated, and both have tested negative for heart worms. We are seeking a home for them where they will live out their lives together. A home without other dogs is in their best interest. They will make excellent companions and are probably best suited to an all-adult home. A home with an adopter who has the ability to work from home or be at home the majority of the day to spend time with them is a plus, and a home with a fenced, secure yard will give them room to run and play securely. Our adoption process starts with your email to [email protected] or Petfinder inquiry. After we receive it, we will email you our prescreening questionnaire. Your answers will help us determine that your home and lifestyle matches the needs of the girls and our adoption criteria. Once determined, we will set up a private meeting with you and your family to meet Penny and Maisie at a park near our private kennel just east of Richmond. After meeting them and determining that they match your preferences for pets, we will accept your application. A home visit by one of our trained volunteers is required for all adoptions, and we will speak with your vet to ensure that you are a responsible pet owner.
