My Story

Update 10/19/09 Bolt, a 3 year old corgi mix, has settled into his Vermont foster home this first day with nary a bark or a whimper, ignoring the four cats that curiously surrounded and sniffed him, and not being intimidated at all by his two much larger foster siblings. He sat without being asked while the leash was put on him, and did the same thing when coming back indoors. What a loveable gentleman! He loved curling up into a corner of the couch tonight, but after his last walk outside for the night, went very agreeably into his crate and snuggled into a comfortable doggy bed. Stay tuned for more news about this cuddly guy.

Bolt has arrived into foster care in Vermont!

Bolt is approximately 3 years old in these pictures taken August 20, 2009. He is a very sweet, loving, and gentle boy who gets along great with people of all ages. Bolt gets along with other dogs and doesn't seem to mind cats either. He also loves belly rubs, car rides, and walks. Oh and he really enjoys cuddling too. Bolt is just a well behaved boy all around. Bolt looks like a yellow lab in the shape of a bassett. He is 25 lbs.

Bolt isn't a fan of thunder storms, and avoids men with beards. He isn't aggressive towards the men but cowers. He was found by some people who tried to find his owners but they were never found. They cannot keep Bolt because their house is pretty full with their own pets.

Bolt went to the vet on August 20, 2009 and received all of his shots, was tested for Heartworms/Lyme/Ehrlicha, and parasites. He tested negative for everything. Bolt weighed 24.2 pounds. Bolt is up-to-date with routine shots, house trained and spayed/neutered.

This dog is available unless it is marked as Pending, meaning "pending adoption".

If this Dog is marked Urgent, it is because the Arkansas shelter where he/she resides is overfull. Please do not ask local shelters to take this dog in, there are many reasons why they cannot. Please also do not send us letters about why we euthanize, AHR does not euthanize, but the shelters we work with do. We are a rescue and we pull as many dogs as we have foster homes and funds for. We, like the shelter, do not have unlimited resources. Please, please: foster, adopt or sponsor a dog to help save their lives.

. We pay a Transportation Service from Arkansas to bring the dogs to New England. The adoption fee is $300 for dogs up to 6 months of age, $250 for dogs 7 months-5 years, and $200 for dogs 5 years and older. This includes vaccinations, spay/neuter, microchip, and transport from Arkansas to Maine on a USDA approved transport with a Health Certificate. All dogs are quarantined 14 days prior to leaving Arkansas. All dogs will be tested for Heartworm prior to adoption. Almost Home Rescue will process your adoption. Applications can be found at www.almosthomerescue.net and can be e-mailed attention of Adele at lonepine_ahr@yahoo for this particular dog. Click HEREto visit our site.
