Blackie (Private A

Blackie is an approx. 5-6 yr. old lab/shepherd mix who is looking for a forever home. Blackie was dumped along a rural Wayne Co. roadside along with 4 other dogs one Sunday morning approx. 3-4 weeks ago. Good fortune for Blackie, the person who spotted these dogs contacted a friend who is a dog lover and she agreed to come out to the site to round-up the dogs. Blackie along with two females were caught and taken back to a farm where they are safe. From observations over the past several weeks Blackie (and the females) appear to have minimal socialization and most likely have been outdoor dogs. Blackie appears to be a smart dog, and it appears that he is enjoying the human attention since he arrived at the farm. He gets along great with all the dogs at the farm (size range from min-pin to lab). At the farm he is learning leash walking, enjoys swimming in the pond along with the other dogs and daily walks around the property. Blackie continually keeps a clean kennel. The only drawbacks he does NOT like cats and he is a climber. The climbing issue, however, does not appear to be an escape tactic, but more so that he wants to be around the humans and other dogs.
