Blackbird is a sweet, energetic pup with the cutest set of ears that don't quite know what to do with themselves yet. He is estimated to be around 4 months old and seems like he will be a loyal pup for a new family. He did not initially respond to any commands but with just a few minutes of working on sit he seemed to be picking it up. Blackbird protested with whining and pawing at the door when one of his favorite volunteers left the room and he will likely need some work on crate training to help set healthy boundaries for when people leave. He seems to enjoy playing with toys and was very excited to meet another pup during his dog test. He has a rough and tumble style of play and his energy may be annoying for an older dog if not properly monitored and guided. All dogs over 6 months have been heartworm tested, and all dogs are treated monthly for fleas/ticks and are on Heartworm prevention (NexGard PLUS). All pets are spayed/neutered prior to a finalized adoption. All our dogs receive a behavior assessment before being placed for adoption to determine initial behaviors towards people and other dogs in the shelter environment.
