My Story

Greetings from Chicago English Bulldog Rescue (CEBR FOR SHORT). Don’t be fooled by our name, we cover a very large Midwest territory!
Don’t forget to vote for us in the Animal Rescue Site Shelter Challenge where we are eligible for $20K in grant money! All you have to do is CLICK to vote. Vote once per day every day and you can help us get there. If you would like a brief daily reminder to vote simply email us!
We are a pure-bred English Bulldog rescue located in the state of Illinois but serving the Midwest. To determine if you qualify to adopt one of our adorable bullies view our Adoption Criteria and Adoption Area Map.
We serve Chicago-proper and the surrounding suburbs, Illinois, Northwest Indiana, Southeastern Wisconsin including Milwaukee and now will accept intakes from Ohio and Missouri. Our adoption radius expansion to Ohio will be coming soon!
CEBR’s Directors and core volunteers are members of the Bulldog Club of America and the Bulldog Club of America Rescue Network. What that means for adopters, surrendering families and shelters is that our bullies get the highest level of care and commitment. They spend their time with us in foster homes where they get daily love and attention.
We are an Illinois licensed shelter and a 501c3 charitable organization. The care we provide our English bulldogs includes a high quality diet, the best veterinary care around (from a bulldog specialist!), and behavioral evaluations of the highest quality. Each of our rescued bullies typically costs CEBR more in care than the adoption fees we collect – on average $536 per bully. Your contributions to help care for our bullies would be so appreciated. Young, playful puppy love looking for good home and family to call my own! (Become a fan of Chicago English Bulldog Rescue on Facebook to read more!)
Hi! I’m Biscuit! And at 3 years old you won’t believe I am not actually a young puppy! I pounce and play just like a pup and I do something that my foster family calls shadowing. I follow one family member around until I get a pat or some love and then I find another and then another… you get the picture. The result is so much love, attention and affection for me and when my foster family is done I work on making pals with my foster bully brother who I think is coming around to my charms…finally!
I am a bit smaller than the average English Bully boy which makes me even more perfect. I am a neutered and up to date on shots, heartworm free and will come to your home with a microchip transfer. I am a good boy when it comes to caring for me with drops in the ears and eyes or baths. I will sit still and let you do what you need, no fuss.
I have very sensitive skin that needs daily attention and car including a good ear and wrinkle wipe. My family had to give me up because of the medical cost of caring for an eye condition (Called cherry eye – which is now fixed) and a pretty nasty ear and skin infection. All of these issues are now resolved thanks to the good people at Chicago English Bulldog Rescue.
Everyone who sees me agrees I am the cutest guy on the block and I kind of know it as well. Sometimes when I am feeling really good I stick my chest out and hold my head high a prance around! I am also a cuddle bug, I love being around people and cuddling with them is one of my most endearing features.
I am attention motivated and have even learned how to do a proper sit. Also, I talk when I think I want your love and you are not paying enough attention to me. Everyone says I sound like a goat when I talk but that’s just because they don’t understand dog speak.
Another thing I am really good at is getting along well with other dogs and even cats! Although with cats I am still learning that they do not like me lifting them up with my head under their belly. That’s fun! I like to watch them plop down off my shoulders. I am just being playful and don’t mean any harm!
My one area of imperfection (Gasp!) is that I need some work on my manners. I have a really hard time with social graces and I could use some help in this area. Sometimes there is just so much going on I really have a hard time focusing, so a training class or two, as well as a family who can manage me through the training period would be great for me. On occasion I have accidents inside but I think it is more about marking rather than having to relieve myself and my foster family is working on me with this as well. I know I can lick this habit with lots of reminding, pats and encouragement. Did I mention that Potential is my middle name?!
Since I can be a big ball of energy I need a home where people are around to take me on long walks, work with me on walking on the leash and manners, play with me and cuddle me. I need lots of encouragement and reassurance and I am most happy just hanging out with people. Being alone for long periods of time would be hard on me.
Thanks,

Biscuit
