My Story

PLEASE READ THE INFORMATION IN THE DOG'S PROFILE, AS WELL AS THE INFORMATION ON OUR WEBSITE BEFORE EMAILING US WITH QUESTIONS. Our Volunteers use up valuable time answering questions, when the answers are readily available on our website. Our adoptions come with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org. We are a foster-based rescue. We do not have a facility. MEET & GREETS FOR DOGS IN ONTARIO WILL ONLY BE ARRANGED ONCE AN ADOPTION APPLICATION IS APPROVED. THANK YOU!!! Please visit our website for more information: https://www.niagaradogrescue.com/ or fill in our adoption application: https://niagaradogrescue.com/adoption-application.php OUT-OF-TOWN Dogs with NDR refer to dogs we have saved that have yet to make their journey to Ontario. These dogs are currently in our care with the help of our partners in the area. These dogs will all travel to the Niagara Region once an appropriate adopter or local foster is found. This dog is currently located in: Texas Name: Birdie (20240219-03) Weight: 62 lbs Age: 3 years Gender: female Spayed/Neutered: yes Breed: lab mix Colour: black and white Neck size (for collar): Height (from top of head): Length (from nose to base of tail): Crate size recommended: 36 to 42" Good with adults: yes Good with kids: yes, but can jump Good with other dogs: yes Good with cats: yes House trained: yes Crate trained: yes, loves it Energy level: medium Can be handled/touched: yes, very loving and sweet Barker: Some yes Flight risk: always leashed and contained. Hasn't jumped a fence in forever but could. Food aggressive: she will bark at a dog near her food, so I crate feed. Walks on leash: yes, see foster notes Rides well in car: yes, but a little nervous Destructive: she shreds her bedding in a crate. I never leave her loose but isn't really destructive Needs a home with a yard: preferred Needs a home with another dog: not required Can live in an apartment: no Foster insights/story: Birdie is hard to explain. She's a very sweet dog who loves her people, but she is petrified of everything. She is scared of the dark and the unknown. She will walk on a leash but has a set pattern she likes to stick to!! I don't see her doing well in crowded places. A quiet country life would suit her best. She has so much personality, just some odd quirks which truly make her endearing!! She needs someone who's patient and enjoys a quirky dog. She has brought me so much joy. She likes to watch TV so maybe some football or hockey!!
