My Story

I'm sorry to report that Bilbo has passed away. Though we'll never know what this gentle boy went through before coming to us, we do know that the last months of his life were filled with love and comfort. So rest in peace little Hobbit Man -- you were the sweetest soul I've ever known. 1/17/07 BILBO HAS BEEN ADOPTED BY HIS FOSTER HOME AND is NO LONGER AVAILABLE but we decided to leave him up on the adoption board to raise awareness about animal neglect and abuse.........................................Hi. My name is Bilbo... and I look just like a little hobbit man. I've had a very hard life up until now. The people from animal control found me chained to a tree with no food, water, or shelter... in the snow! My family moved and left me behind. That's okay though, they made me live outside, chained to that tree for a long time and I want to live INSIDE with good people who will love me and keep me safe and warm. Because those other people didn't take very good care of me, I lost a lot of hair on my back and tail, I can't hear nothin' and I have something the doctor calls nuclear sclerosis -- which means I have a depth perception problem with my eyesight. All I know is that I'm willing to be everybody's friend. I love regular people and four-legged, furry people. Can I come live with you? If you scratch my back, I'll do a funny little hobbit dance for you!********************************************Bilbo is a prime example of animal neglect. His poor little body is just skin and bones from not being fed on a regular basis. We also dug several bb's out from under his skin -- how someone could shoot at this precious soul is beyond us. It's amazing that this little guy is as friendly as he is... most dogs left chained become unsocialized and, many times, aggressive. We're hoping that someone may have a special place in their heart for a baby like Bilbo. He needs lots of TLC and we'd so like for him to have a home of his own to live out the rest of his days as a cherished member of a family. We also feel that, because of his limited vision and deafness, he really needs a fenced yard. We honestly don't have any clue as to how old he is... he's probably at least 10. He still likes to play and go for short walks. This is not a shelter -- all rescues are housed in foster homes and the person who runs this rescue works full time, so please be patient. updated 11/10/06 Bilbo has grown back most of his hair and loves to give kisses. He now knows how to use a doggie door.
