Bentley's story written by a dedicated shelter volunteer:
Bentley is a Shar-pei who is 1 year 4 months old (neutered male) who finds himself at the shelter as his owner could not keep up with him.
Bentley is extremely friendly and loves everyone though he will alert you when people ring the door bell! We are not sure how Bentley is with cats at this time but he gets along fine with the other dogs at the shelter. He loves to play play play. Bentley has been to obedience class but is young and will require some further follow-up as he tends to play "deaf" and ignore you, especially if he is focused on something he finds more interesting than you!
This young boy is a bundle of wiggly energy and is quite strong, though once he settles down he is quite an easy walker. Due to his energy and strength he may knock small children over though so a home with older kids would be best ~ Bentley also does tend to nip when playing so he will need to learn to curb that tendency. Bentley's favorite play toy is a tennis ball and apparently he can hold three in his mouth!
If you are thinking of bringing Bentley into your home, please research the breed first. Bentley is a great boy but he will require ongoing attention to his diet (may need special food), he is also prone to yeast infections and has had a "face lift". Bentley's previous owner also gave him monthly Revolution treatments.
If you are a Shar-pei fan Bentley may be the perfect companion for you.
