My Story

Bentley has found a new family! All our best to you Bentley and your new K9 playmate and mom!

Bentley is ready for his forever home. A new report from Bentley's foster family:

Now that Bentley has been here a week and we know him better now here is a new report on this sweet boy. Bentley is a lively, playful, affectionate 11 month old puppy who will make you fall in love with him. He is friendly, outgoing ,smart and eager to please, well-socialized with dogs, and curious but tolerant of cats. He has a beautiful glossy black horsecoat and big brown eyes. He likes to have his head petted and really likes a belly rub when he's tired. He needs a good walk every day and enjoys his time in the yard and playing inside with soft squeaky toys. He would be very happy in a home with another dog. He has had some separation anxiety but is doing much better with consistent leadership. He was recently neutered and still interested in females, but has been learning to "leave-it". He is very well-behaved indoors and out, and his foster mom is getting very attached to him because he is such a sweet baby and would keep him if she could.

Upon arrival:
Bentley was found roaming the streets of New Westminster and taken in to the Animal Shelter on 231 Ewen Ave where he waited for his family to come to get him. His family decided that Bentley was better off in another home and TnT Rescue was contacted by the New West Shelter for help placing Bentley in a new and forever home.

Bentley is only 11 months old and already searching for a new home. The sad part of taking home a puppy is that people often loose interest as the dog grows older. Bentley is still a pup and needs guidance but is eager to please and loves praise, treats and all else that goes with being a good puppy. He is housebroken and already knows basic commands too. Bentley enjoys meeting new people as well as new doggie pals. In his previous home he lived with children as young as three years old. We are not sure how much he likes cats but he did not pay much attention to the cats that were in the kennel beside him at the shelter.
Unfortunately, his previous home let him roam around town a lot by himself. We hear he found his way to a local dog park during his ventures out on his own where he made many K9 friends. He loves to be around other dogs and may wander off to find K9 companions if not kept indoors or with his family when outdoors.
Roaming the streets meant Bentley had no restrictions and tons of room so being kept in a kennel took its toll on him very quickly. Bentley became very stressed in his kennel at the shelter and thankfully shelter staff contacted us as soon as he was available for adoption. Bentley was then taken in by a fabulous TnT foster family right away.

Bentley is now adjusting well to his new digs with his foster sister and two foster brothers who are all Shar-pei as well. His two foster brothers are Rescued Shar-pei so they know how he feels and are being very kind to him.
Bentley has been to the vets and is now neutered. He is now on a new diet to help his coat shine and keep him healthy inside and out. We would like to thank Dr. Suhk Kahlon and staff at the Alta Vista Animal Hospital in Vancouver who took Bentley in with only short notice to neuter him.

Here is what his foster mom has to say about Bentley so far:

We think he would be great with an owner who will be firm and consistent with training, and who has a yard and would take him out for regular exercise. He definitely knows what WALK means and got just as excited as our guys about going to the woods. He would also do well with another dog, rather than being on his own all the time. He likes being with the gang. He seems to have a little separation anxiety with us and doesn't like to be on the wrong side of the door, but that may be because of his recent circumstances. He loves to be petted and we can tell that as negligent as his family may have been in some areas, they must have made him feel loved. And yes, we would probably keep him if we didn't have three. He sure is lucky you found him. Cheryl

Thank you to Cheryl, Adam, big foster sis Sookee, and big foster brothers Kona and Beau. He is lucky to have found you as well!

If you are interested in finding out more about Bentley please go to www.tntsharpeirescue.com and fill out an application form or send us an e-mail! This young boy will not be available for long as we are sure he will find a forever home soon so please contact us as soon as possible if you wish to take him into your home.

If fostering a needy Shar-pei is something you think you may be interested in please send us an e-mail! We are always in need of special homes like the one Bentley is lucky enough to be in for temporary placement of dogs until permanent homes can be found.
Fostering a dog is wonderful experience and the chance you give a foster dog is so rewarding. Without foster homes to take in these dogs many would sadly have no place to go.
