My Story

Bennie is now being fostered in New England!

From his foster mom: " I cannot tell everyone how much I love this dog! He has "calmed" down since his first night and has been nothing but a delightful addition to our household. He LOVES to snuggle and kiss! He acts like a dog who has been a house dog, as he has not had any accident (except for marking on the first day) and goes right into his crate at night and SLEEPS ... no barking! I am shocked! He loves stuffed toys and will throw them in the air. He will play with all the dogs in the house, and is respectful of the cats.

He went to work with me yesterday and today... and everyone cooed over him :) He was a hit! He played with a lab puppy and my bosses cattle dog today :) he is sooo cute!

Bennie would be good with kids, cats and other dogs. He is just the perfect house dog.. I cannot imagine why anyone would him up! I need to get him new pictures, as he is only 14 lbs and his pictures make him look gigantic! HE has a slight under bite so his lip gets stuck on his tooth too and he looks like Elvis... I LOVE THIS DOG!!! If I didn't have five of my own, he would be a keeper! His only "terrier" personality traits are : digging to sleep, interested in small critters (chipmunks etc) which would make him a flight risk... needs a fenced in yard and chewing up toys and paper! SO CUTE!!! He does not have the stubbern personality I am used to..."

Bennie is approx. 2 - 2 1/2 years old in these pictures taken July 8, 2006. He came into the Arkansas shelter about the middle of May 2006. Bennie gets along with all of the other dogs. He is a real snuggle bug with humans too.

We do not know if he is housetrained, likes cats, or if he would be good with children under 10 (we rarely get children younger than 10 at the shelter). Like 99% of the animals at the shelter, he was picked up as a stray off the street.

. Almost Home Rescue will process your adoption. Applications can be found at www.almosthomerescue.net and should be e-mailed to [email protected]

These animals are in dire need of homes. If you cannot provide a home, sponsors are welcome and needed for heartworm treatment and/or other medical expenses for dogs coming to New England. Foster families are also needed from time to time. Fostering a healthy dog or one that is in treatment will also save lives!

Transportation from Arkansas is a paid transport service. The adoption fee is $200.00 for altered dogs. (includes vaccinations, spay/neuter and transport from AR) $300. for unaltered puppies, with $100 refundable after spay/neuter
