Benji is approximately 4 years old in these pictures taken March 28, 2008 in Arkansas where he is currently located. Benji is NOT house trained. He and his sister, Chloe, are being given up because there is no time for them now that the baby has arrived. This happens very often, believe it or not. We will be accepting applications, and will choose an applicant that proves to be a good fit for the dog and family
The baby is now 6 months old and Benji and Chloe are pretty protective of her. They have not been exposed to many children though. Both dogs do well with other dogs and have been exposed to cats. They do well on a leash and ride pretty good in a car too. Benji gets a little scared and does get car sick, but a Dramamine fixes him right up. Chloe and Benji do well with men and women but are better with women as their mom has always been their primary care giver. Both love to sleep with their human and will sit for treats.
The only problems the family has had with Chloe and Benji are: Benji likes marking his territory in a new house, and when Chloe was younger, because of her allergies, her mom never took her outside...but she has been trying to train Chloe a little and she’s getting better.. She is using puppy pads at this time. Mom just doesn't have the time to devote to Chloe since the new baby.

This dog is available unless it is marked as Pending, meaning "pending adoption".
If this Dog is marked Urgent, it is because the Arkansas shelter where he/she resides is overfull. Please do not ask local shelters to take this dog in, there are many reasons why they cannot. Please also do not send us letters about why we euthanize, AHR does not euthanize, but the shelters we work with do. We are a rescue and we pull as many dogs as we have foster homes and funds for. We, like the shelter, do not have unlimited resources. Please, please: foster, adopt or sponsor a dog to help save their lives. <
