My Story

Let me tell you about this AMAZING girl. Her name is Bellamy. She is an approximately 1 yr. old female Beagle that now weighs 20lbs. She is absolutely one of the SWEETEST dogs I’ve ever met. Truly. She, her Mama, and her 4 babies were left in a back yard when the owners moved. No food, no shelter, no water. And the yard was so overgrown it was like being in the woods and no one knew they were there……starving to death. Luckily a neighbor spotted them and reached out to us and was able to care for them until we could find an open foster. Bellamy is shy at first and tends to be more comfortable with women but does fine and warms up to men as well. She loves to be petted but needs you to be a little patient because she is still scared of new things. We think she would do best in a quiet home. And although she is a beagle, she has not been a “barker”. She will require a fenced in yard to keep her safe when she’s outside. No electric fences/collars! She is up to date on vaccines, rabies, bordatella, dewormed, spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative and has received a Proheart 6 for 6 months of further prevention, as well as current on flea/tickprevention. You can also message us about Bellamy on our Facaebook page at: Heart of Louisiana Humane Society
