Bella came to us from a shelter with two correctable eye conditions. The first is entropion eyelids, a situation where the eyelids are turned in (inversion), causing irritation and abrasions to the surface (cornea) of the eye. This causes severe tearing (lacrimation) and if uncorrected, the inverted eyelids can damage the cornea of the eye and cause ulceration, cloudiness of the cornea, and sometimes blindness. The second is "Cherry Eye," a common eye condition in various dog breeds where the gland of the third eyelid (known as the nictitating membrane) prolapses and becomes visible.
These two conditions along with kennel cough has not damaged Bella's kisses and tail wagging! Now recovering in hospital she will have her surgery within the week and we will be able to see her beautiful eyes once again! She is a very playful, sweet, gentle affectionate, kind and loving dog. Although a bit shy at first she just needs some confidence building and a loving home.
