Bella

Bella is a young adult dog who desperately wants someone to love her. Slim, streamlined, and agile, she can effortlessly run like the wind! She would make a great jogging partner but she would also enjoy snuggling on the sofa after a good workout. Bella weighs 17 lbs. and she gets along well with other dogs and cats, but she does play fairly "rough". She is highly intelligent, sweet, extremely fastidious, and she is very well behaved in the house. She isn't a "needy" dog but--when she wants to be noticed--instead of barking, she "sings"! Bella is loving, independent and a bit stubborn. She is sensitive and responds best to very subtle cues, so she never needs physical punishment. Bella is a unique creature whose actions are cat-like, and whose facial expressions and stances remind us of a comical gargoyle! Bella would do best with someone who has had previous experience with the Basenji breed. To get the exercise she needs, she does need a safely fenced-in yard. (We do not trust "invisible" fences, and do not consider them a safe way to confine a pet.) Bella is on an (inexpensive) medication twice a day to successfully control her epileptic seizures. But she is, otherwise, the picture of health. In Italian, "Bella" means "beautiful", and her name fits her perfectly. Is there someone out there who would love Bella for the unique and loving dog that she is?
