Baxter is looking for an adult home or a home with teenage or older children who know dogs. Baxter was found as a stray and not claimed as his owner was no longer capable of caring for him.
What we have heard from neighbors and family who knew him is that he had a very loving mom who he spent all of his time with. He is not used to being alone or being very social with strangers. He will warm up to people but is typically aloof upon first meeting. He will bond very closely to whoever will give him that chance. Baxter would love a home where he is not alone much. We are not sure how he would enjoy other animal siblings but do know he did not live with other animals in his previous home.
Please contact the shelter for more information. We hope that posting Baxter's information here will help him find a loving home, or at least a temporary foster. Baxter shy and aloof personality is not helping him to stand out in a shelter full of needy dogs. He has been overlooked by so many but will make a loyal and loving companion if given the chance to bond.
Go meet him at the shelter and take him for a walk. He is great on leash and loves to sniff and investigate everything he can.
