My Story

UPDATE 4/12/08: Baxter is loving life in foster care! It's just so much nicer than waiting in the shelter. He seems to know he's lucky.

Baxter's foster mom says that Baxter is smart and alert. He knows his name already and responds when called. He LOVES his foster family's sons, especially since they let him get silly and play games. But when it's time to settle down, Baxter is very calm, cool and collected. He can usually be found sacked out by someone's side. He's going to make some fortunate family a wonderful pet.

UPDATE 4/8/08: Baxter is a grand southern gentleman in a small package. He's respectful of other canines, but he simply adores people. People are his favorite creatures, hands down!

When Baxter meets someone new, he sits and wags his tail and politely waits to be lavished with attention. He's not greedy, though. He'll happily share a warm lap with two other dogs! He seems willing to share food and toys, too. Baxter also gets along with cats. He doesn't mind at all when they rub up against him.

Baxter loves to cuddle with his foster mom, and he thinks it's great fun to play with his foster family's teenage boys. In a home with kids, he might indulge his silly, playful side more. Although Baxter is generally quiet, he's learned to participate in sounding the group alarm when the other dogs bark at something. But you can't blame him for wanting to fit in, right?

Baxter is calm. He doesn't chew. At five years of age, he feels too mature for that kind of non-sense. Baxter sleeps in his crate at night without a fuss. He's been a perfect house guest in his foster home. With his sweet demeanor and highly evolved social skills, he's going to make some lucky family a wonderful pet.

Stay tuned for new photos soon!!!

4/5/08: Baxter is 12 lbs and is enjoying his new foster home in New Hampshire. He loves to follow his new foster mom around, and loves to snuggle. As we get to know more about Baxter, we will update his bio.

Baxter is approximately 5 years old in these pictures taken March 4, 2008. Baxter was brought in to our partner shelter in Arkanasa by a lady who said he jumped in her car while she was checking her mail on the highway. She couldn't keep him as her dogs kept trying to eat him.

Baxter is a very sweet, loving, and friendly guy. The director has let him in her house and he is housebroken. He loves sitting under the desk as she works on the computer. Baxter is also a great snuggler on the couch. He does climb a regular chain link fence so he will need a home with a 6 ft fence. He does great on the leash and rides well in the car. When we took Baxter in to get neutered he weighed 12.4 pounds. He is the perfect lap size. Baxter would like to be adopted in New England and get out of the shelter in Arkansas, wont you consider him?
