My Story
MARR covers Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Wisconsin. Bandit is being fostered in IA currently. However, transportation is available for adoptions within our coverage area.
Bandit is available for adoption and is located in Maxwell Iowa.
Bandit is a 5 1/2-year-old, playful and assertive, neutered male. He is super sweet, loves pets and playing fetchbut it does take him awhile to trust someone new, so handling needs to be conservative as he gets to know a person. Once he trusts you, you can handle him freely.
He has not been around children but is good with puppies as well as small and large dogs. Bandit loves to go for walks- pulls a bit at first but settles quickly and is really good at sit, stay, down and shake. He is food motivated and loves balls, tug and nylabones. This boy needs a home where he can have the space and training he needs to learn how to trust his people in order to become the best dog he can be.
He is a mild resource guarder, but its manageable. However, due to this, we dont recommend him being in a home with children under the age of 14. He does not do well in a high-traffic home with people going in and out frequently, and needs time to get to know someone before he trusts them. He learned in his first few years that if someone made him nervous, if he was scary to them, they would go away, and he still will revert to that if he feels threatened.
He does okay at the vet with lots of reinforcement. He is muzzle trained and will come with his well-fitted Leerburg muzzle. He does get along with other dogs with a proper gradual introduction. He was overly interested in cats, so probably not a good addition to a cat household.
Bandit needs a rott savvy owner who is patient and willing to earn Bandit's trust. Once you have some respect and a bond established with him, he is a great dog. He knows sit, down, shake, kennel, and he comes when hes called. He understands no. He LOVESSSSSS to fetch. He is clean in his kennel, and will bark when he needs to go outside. He can be trusted in the house and is non-destructive. Hes highly food motivated and learns quickly, seems to enjoy training. He seems to prefer women to men and learns to trust women more quickly; he would be a great fit for a single woman who wanted to feel a little more secure!
Bandit is purebred and was out of registered parents- we have reached out to his breeder but we have gotten no response.
