My Story

Baloo came to us from Saskatoon SPCA. He was picked up as a stray and no one claimed him. He needed a little time in a foster home, so he came to us!

Baloo is a GREAT dog!! He’s sweet, sensitive, snuggly, smart, responsive, attentive and a goof. He is an all around wonderful and good looking dog. He’s house trained and listens to your tone of voice well. Because he was found as a stray, he has no formal training but he is learning quickly. He has one special trick that he likes to do… he stands up on his hind legs and walks around like a circus dog waiting for a treat. It’s very funny especially when we ask all the dogs to sit for a treat and he goes straight up into his balancing act while the other dogs sit down.

Baloo is GREAT with cats, other dogs and even my bird. I’ve even caught him licking my one of cats head a few times. He does not bark, he stays with you on walks and loves to meet new dogs at the dog park. He does pull on a leash and does not know his name yet however he is very smart as I’ve taught him to sit in less than 10 minutes using clicker training. He’s a medium sized dog with a beautiful coat and we are guessing his age to be about 4 or 5 years old. He does not over eat and is in great shape so I think he would be a very good flyball or agility dog.

Baloo can be fearful in some situations but he has come a long way in very little time. He just needs someone patient that he can learn to trust and he is fine. He is already very trusting of us and it’s only been a week.

I do not know how he is with kids but suspect he would be fine with older children. I do know you would be a very lucky person to adopt this dog. I’d adopt him myself because we love him so much but I already have two dogs.

Adoption Application
NEW HOPE DOG RESCUE is not a shelter. Our dogs are placed in loving foster homes. WE NEED FOSTER HOMES TO HELP MORE DOGS - CONTACT US TODAY!!!

Definitions:

Pending - means that we are working through the adoption process with the 1st applicant. We usually don't add the pending until we are pretty sure the adoption will go through (like at the home visit stage)

On Trial or Trial Visit - means that the dog is in their new home for up to 2 weeks before the adopters need to commit to keeping the dog. We want to make sure that everyone is happy with the new living arrangements! We allow this option for everyone except very long distance adoptions (too far to drive).

Adopted - you know!! A happy ending for a homeless dog. We try to let everyone know when we have the final word. Within about 24 hours, the dog's bio will be moved to our happy tails section!
