My Story

Azalea is being virtually fostered by Becky's Pet Care. We thank Becky's Pet Care for giving Azalea additional exposure so we can get her adopted ASAP! If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out our dog adoption questionnaire and e-mail any questions to: [email protected] PLEASE VISIT THIS WEBSITE TO FIND THE ADOPTION QUESTIONNAIRE: http://www.homewardtrails.org/adopt-a-pet/adoption-forms/ HOW TO MEET THIS ANIMAL: Come meet them every Saturday and Sunday at the Homeward Trails Adoption Center located at 11116 Fairfax Station Road in Fairfax Station, Virginia from 10 am until 4 pm. LOCATION: Homeward Trails Adoption Center ADOPTION COORDINATOR: Contact our awesome staff at [email protected] ADOPTION FEE: Azalea is part of the Go Fetch program. This means that her adoption fee is waived and she's ready to roll with some other goodies too! Adopt this girl today! This INCLUDES spay/neuter and microchip. **Ask me about our many adoption benefits that include free exams, pet insurance, training and other discounts! ESTIMATE WEIGHT FULL GROWN: 44 lbs KNOWN WITH DOGS: Azalea is a physical player who likes to get into hard play. She is well socialized with other dogs and will do a great job reading body language. KNOWN WITH CATS: Azalea has never lived with cats to our knowledge. We would be happy to find out if you are interested! KNOWN WITH KIDS: Azalea has lots of energy and may be too much for younger children. Azalea also has some fear when it comes to strangers so an active home with children coming and going may be too much for her. KNOWN COMMANDS: Azalea received professional training while in her last home and knows several commands like Heel, Stay and Place. She has lots of ability to learn if you are interested in having a training partner! KNOWN HOUSEBREAKING &/OR CRATING: Azalea is good in her crate and has lived in a home before and there were no reports of accidents in the home. KNOWN LIKES: Azalea is a frisbee queen. She loves to play fetch with them and would love to star in your own personal halftime show! She also enjoys playing with other dogs that match her playstyle, snuggling with people she knows, and playing in water KNOWN DISLIKES: Azalea does not like strangers and needs to be put in positions where she does not come into close contact with people she doesn't know. She is also not a fan of squirrels and may run after them if given the opportunity. ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: Azalea was returned to Homeward Trails when her loving family had to deal with major medical issues and could no longer care for her. While she was with the family, she went to an overnight training facility and learned a whole lot of great skills. Azalea would like to have access to a fenced in area where she can run free but needs higher walls to keep her contained. She's got a lot of brains to use so she would like to train and have an active lifestyle. HT ADOPTION INCLUSIONS: Spay/Neuter First 3 distemper series vaccines & de-wormings Microchip - lifetime with no registration fees Current on heartworm preventative Current on flea/tick preventative EXCLUSIVE ADOPTER BENEFITS: Free first exam with: Caring Hands Animal Hospital, Palisades Veterinary Clinic, Jermantown Animal Hospital and Clarendon Animal Care and all VCA Animal Hospitals (VCA offers $250 coverage - details provided) Free online workshop with a professional dog trainer at Fur-Get Me Not within the first 30 days of adopting (in DC/Arlington/Alexandria only) A portion of EVERY ADOPTION fee supports spay/neuter for animals in under-resourced communities BE A FOSTER: Save a life: http://www.homewardtrails.org/foster-a-pet/dog-and-cat-foster-program.
