My Story

Axel is a 1.5 year old Australian Cattle Dog/Border Collie mix weighing around 45lbs who never stops smiling! He was surrendered to us about a month ago after getting loose and killing the families chickens and he was going to be euthanized because of it. Axel is dog friendly and will match another dogs energy well, but he does enjoy running and wrestling with other playful dogs. For obvious reasons, he will not be a candidate for a home with cats or other small animals. He can be apprehensive when meeting new people, but once he learns to trust you he will be your best friend! He’s just a big baby who hasn’t been exposed to much. Older respectful children should be fine but no kids under the age of 10 for this guy. Axel is crate trained, potty trained when kept on a consistent routine, and good on a leash but lacks confidence and needs more reassurance in new places. He is very smart and food motivated, and he’s going to make an excellent dog for someone patient who can give him a little guidance in life. If you’re interested in fostering or adopting Axel, please fill out an application at www.rosebudrescue.com/adopt or email us if you already have an application on file. Long distance adoptions considered at the adopters expense after a meet and greet in West Falls, NY. We DO NOT adopt outside of the United States.
