My Story

COURTESY POSTING: Ava, a story of survival... To most of us, the recycling center is where we go to rid ourselves of our trash, well, sadly, someone thought Ava was their trash. For the first several months of her life, this shepherd mix puppy called the recycling center home. Sleeping in a pipe and scavaging for food, Ava spent her days. On one of those days, it was noticed Ava was pregnant. The next day, a good Samaritan came to get Ava. Ava was no longer pregnant and there were no puppies. It was believed she had miscarried. Ava was rescued and brought to live with a caring foster family. There were kind humans who cared for her, children to play with and friendly dogs and cats who accepted her as a member of their family. It is now time for Ava to have a forever home of her own where she can put down roots and never have to worry about finding food or staying safe and warm. Here are some comments from Ava's foster mom in Georgia shortly before Ava left for NH... "We are so grateful to you and your rescue group for being able to help Ava find her forever home. I will have a hard time saying good bye to her, as she has truly become a member of the family. She adores her toys, even though they were hand-me-downs from my older dogs. She has a good warm coat for New Hampshire winters and does not seem to mind taking walks in 18 degree weather. She loves to fetch toys, and will do her business on a leash. She is a love, and we are going to miss her very much. Please keep us updated on her status. It sounds like her foster home in NH is a great one! My children are 2.5 and 5 years old. Ava has been great with both of them. She likes to give my son a kiss on his nose. I think she would be good with any age. As far as cats and other dogs go, she is wonderful with my two dogs. They are both older (11 and 10), so she's taken the submissive role with them. She likes to kiss them on their chins and they get along very well. We have four cats, and Ava is curious about them. Two of them hissed and swatted at her and Ava immediately backed off. I don't think cats will be a problem for her in the long run. She is going to make a great pet for a lucky family. Thank you so much for helping her, and please keep me posted on her progress". Ava's NH foster mom is as thriled with Ava as her Georgia mom was. I am Ava's NH rescuer and I too feel she is simply the dearest, sweetest dog possible! Ava is about nine months now, weighs 38 lbs., is UTD with vaccinations and is spayed. Is darling Ava the family member you've been looking for? If you think so, please email or call Sheila, at [email protected] ~ 603-895-2269 and ask for an application. An adoption fee of $300.00 will help defray medical and transportation expenses. Thank you.
