My Story

Meet Aurora! She came into the shelter after being too active in her previous home. She took a while to adjust to bring in the shelter, but she's been learning to trust us as we work with her! She is used to being outside for most of the day in her previous home, so regular outings will be important to keeping her mentally stimulated. She has used a crate and didn't seem to mind being kenneled for short periods. Aurora is very food motivated and eager to learn. She knows how to sit, stay, lay down, and shake paw! Aurora is a smart pup who has committed her favorite word to memory: WALK! Her face lights up when it's time to go on a walk, and she makes sure to very thoroughly sniff everything of interest when she's out and about. Aurora has lived with children between the ages of infant to teens and has been friendly and playful. She can sometimes forget her size and try to climb in your lap. She has encountered cats and kept her distance from them. Aurora previously enjoyed the company of another medium sized dog. All introductions should be done slowly and with direct supervision when bringing home a new animal. It can take weeks or months for an animal to fully acclimate to their new home. Ask staff for tips. She's been wary of strangers at first, but Aurora warms up to them with a little patience and some treats. Her previous owners described her as timid with new things but otherwise independent and playful. She would benefit from additional socialization with her new people. Aurora enjoys riding in the car and playing with squeaky toys or ropes! Come meet Aurora today! Donations and adoption fees help cover the cost of spay/neuter surgeries, microchipping, vaccinating, de-worming, any medical procedures and general care.
