My Story

Aurielle is a 9 month old doberman/lab mix, weighing about 60 lbs, that is looking for a new forever home. She is very loving, energetic, and acts like a puppy. She loves to wrestle and to play bite, so I wouldn't recommend small children. We got her from a farm and she had a urinary tract infection and we didn't know it until we were having problems potty training her. She is now done with antibiotics and is working on training, but it is slow going breaking her from the paper. Other than that, she has no downsides. She is a wonderful dog, a great companion. She loves long walks, she needs lots of hugs, loves to be petted, Aurielle is a great protector, and a good friend. If you think Aurielle would be a good fit for your family, please call Angela Clements at 301-302-7483. We require a fenced yard if there are kids under the age of 12 in the home.

Adopting a dog that has been moved from a home to a shelter and then to a rescue is not for everyone. It takes time and patience to make that dog feel at home in his new environment. It takes at least 1 week and usually up to a month for a dog to acclimate to your schedule and home. An animal shelter is the most stressful place for a dog to be, with other dogs barking and not knowing what is happening around them. Some dogs come to their new home scared and timid. They will sometimes take several days before they start eating and have anything to do with the new adopters.

It's not easy rescuing a dog. It takes patience and time and LOVE. These dogs need love and understanding, not another rejection.
