My Story

August is a curious, playful puppy looking for a home. Other dogs and cats are ok. August is very attached to his humans and enjoying rescue life after a rough first start being neglected. August came to us in July, and we knew instantly that better days were ahead for him. He was born in January 2024 and spent most of his puppyhood in a basement. Despite less-than-ideal conditions, August (or “Auggie”) is one of the sweetest, well-tempered adolescents we’ve met. He does well with baths, nail trimmings, ear cleanings, toy sharing, cats, large dogs, small dogs, and new people. His current foster does not have children, but there were children in his birth home, and he did well with them. Auggie is currently living with three cats and two dogs. Despite his near-skeletal condition, he is non-food aggressive (but should still be separated from other dogs during mealtime to ensure he gets enough). His mom and dad were both 45lb-60+ lb bully breeds. Due to poor nutrition, it’s hard to predict how much more he’ll grow; at 6 months old, he weighed just 10 lbs. More than anything, this little guy wants to be in a lap. He is gentle on a leash and loves being close enough to touch whoever is walking him. Currently, he is working on crate and potty training.
