My Story

My name is Auburn and I’m looking for my forever home! I am 6 years old and I am being fostered near Minneapolis, MN. I’m looking for a quiet, calm home – preferably one with a securely fenced yard where I can run. I love to run! I came to SIRA from a commercial breeding facility and I’m still getting used to living in a home with humans. There are so many strange noises and things to experience. I’m still a bit skittish, shy and cautious, but as I get to know you, I’ll want to follow you around to see what you’re doing and be near you. I love affection and once I trust you, I’ll ask you to scritch my head and pet me because it feels so good! I’m an early riser and I wake up ready to go! I love to run around in the fenced yard, and I’ve learned how to walk on a leash too. Quiet streets and trails are my favorite - I get scared of traffic, noises and unfamiliar humans or dogs. I’m a smart cookie and learn new routines and schedules quickly. I’m pretty much totally house-trained, but I’ll need to be watched around rugs and carpets. I’m not fond of being confined in a crate. I’m a sweet girl – foster mom says I don’t have an aggressive bone in my body. I love chewing on things, so it will be good to have appropriate chew toys for me. I get along well with the resident dogs in my foster home. I’m okay with kids and with cats, though little kids might scare me if they make sudden movements or loud noises. I haven’t shown any prey-drive that lots of Shibas have. I like watching the swans in the backyard, but I have never barked at them or tried to chase them. I’m a healthy girl – spayed and vaccinated and I weigh 18 pounds. Sometimes my eyes water and make tear stains on my face, but the vet says that this is no cause for concern. If you live in the Midwest and would love to have a quiet, sweet friend to be your shadow, visit www.savingshibas.com/adopt for more information and to apply to become an approved SIRA adopter. The application process helps SIRA learn more about you and your home so they can make sure that we’ll be a good match. Once approved, they’ll introduce you to my foster mom so we can meet!
