My Story

Atticus is the most sweet, handsome two year old Beagle/Pointer mix and has the most gentle, lovable manner about him. The shelter begged Critter Cavalry to put Atticus in rescue because he is such a fabulous dog, and he was a favorite of the shelter workers. When I picked him up at the shelter, and I was putting him in the back seat, he gave me a big kiss like he knew he was on his way to a better life away from the shelter. Once I got him home, my own personal dog who is smaller than Atticus has growled and growled at him, but he just politely turns his head and ignores him. Nothing seems to fluster or bother Atticus. The only time I have heard him bark is he will bark once or twice after I put him in his crate, but he will quiet down immediately. He loves taking a long walk, but he also loves to cuddle with you on the sofa. He would really like to be a lap dog and sit in your lap. He loves for you to hug him, and he will burrow his head on your shoulder. When he wants you to love on him, he will lift one paw in the air so you know it is time to show him attention. He is so even tempered that he might make a great therapy dog for someone who is willing to train him. Atticus kept getting passed by in the shelter because everyone wanted a puppy for Christmas. He would sit patiently at the front of his cage for someone to pay him attention. Don’t let such a great dog pass you by. You will truly be blessed by having an awesome dog like Atticus as a member of your family!!
