My Story

Meet Athena! A beautiful 3 year old, 75 pound, German Shepard. This girl has lots of love to give! She loves to run and play, but once she gets tuckered out, all she wants to do is snuggle with her human(s). Once she knows your her person she'll be sure to stay by your side and let you know if she could use more affection. Athena adjusted well and quickly to her new foster home and thrives most on routine and stimulation, providing both is key to her being the best pup she can be, which is pretty great. She likes to wrestle, walks and runs, squeaky toys and kisses most of all. Athena currently lives with two foster siblings and does great! She loves to play with other dogs in the house, but she can roughhouse and get vocal in her play. She also does well with kids, but is still learning to redirect her excitement and does need to work a bit more on jumping. Her intentions are simply to become best friends with everyone she meets. As for cats, this one could potential work but its important to keep in mind she hasn't spent much time around cats and it could be a no-go, especially if the cat isn't dog-savvy as she likes to play chase. All resident pets would be able to meet this sweet girl during a meet-and-greet if you think it may be a match! Athena is fully house trained and has no issues letting you know when she needs to go out. She also does great in her crate, sleeping there most nights with no issues. As is typical for her breed, Athena loves routine and will thrive with a regular schedule. Without one, she can exhibit stress if left alone and will appreciate regular time spent with her humans. This girl wants to be part of a pack. She'll settle in with her forever family with time and be sure to be the perfect companion, but would especially love a human and/or other dog(s) to play with throughout the day. This girl can be vocal as she barks during play when she gets excited and when she's on watch for the neighborhood. As a GSD, Athena takes her job to protect the house seriously and will alert her people to anything happening outside (e.g., pedestrians, animals, etc.). As a result, its best she live in a home without shared walls, especially in busier neighborhoods. She could do well with or without a fence, but would love one to run and play in given her energy level. Athena is a very typical GSD and its preferred she go to a family familiar with GSD and/or other big working dogs. If you know what its like to love a GSD, you're sure to love Athena. She will thrive on routine and continued training to keep her stimulated, and be the perfect addition to most any family. Could that be you?
