My Story

ASLAN ASLAN This big, huggable, red, senior guy from Indiana came to us via the kindhearted animal shelter crew he ended up with after they got a call from a local farmer that he was roaming his property. They saw the potential Aslan has to offer; awesome companionship, love and devotion to those who decide to receive and share the same in return. This guy is a big sweetie with a huge heart whose apparent desire in life is to be a lap dog when he is not on the look out for squirrels and rabbits while outside! He seems to enjoy the companionship of his female foster sister but can be grumpy around some dogs (usually males). Aslan is living peacefully, for the most part, with his foster brother cats. However, although there have been no physical altercations, he does tend to stare down one of his foster brother cats, fairly regularly. Aslan loves to ride in the car, go outside for a little easy-going fun, snuggle up on the couch with his foster mom and just simply be part of the family. He has a nice hefty alarm bark, which he typically reserves for times he feels it is needed (and his foster mom concurs). He has the wisdom of an 8-10 year old senior to round off his charming personality. Unfortunately, however, we suspect Aslan is in the early stages of Wobblers as he is quite ataxic and clumsy most of the time. He has been on a fairly regular schedule of acupuncture in an effort to possibly provide some relief for this unfortunate genetic disorder. He is proving to be a very good patient. Aslan would do best in a quiet home with minimal stairs and no children. It is suspected that he would appreciate having a less dominant (Aslan will steal toys that his foster sister is playing with) doggie sister or possibly brother. It is hard to say for sure if he would live peacefully with other cats because he does seem to have a fairly high prey drive on occasion which can sometimes escalate into a chase. Contact foster mom Tamara via email at [email protected] for more information. Aslan is delighted to wear his new Dober Duds collar and leash, thanks to a donation from Rosi Alvarado.
