Milton has been settling in very well in the 3 weeks he has been in his new foster home. He now is VERY happy to go into his crate willingly. We found out he loves to have a marrow bone filled with peanut butter put into his crate as a treat. He walks right in, and doesn't make a peep after being crated. GOOD BOY!! He has had his nails clipped, and was fine with having his feet handled. He also was good when his ears were cleaned. He seems to tolerate these types of necessities without any problems. We have also found out that Milton absolutely LOVES going to the off leash dog park! He is so happy and excited to run and play with other dogs. He does well with all breeds of dogs. It doesn't matter if they are big or small. He loves them all!! Please take a peek at more of Milton's pic's by going to his very own blog site: Click here to view MILTON'S BLOG
Milton is a very handsome, Black & White American Field Bred English Setter. He is approximately 6 years old and was dumped in a local Ohio shelter. He is a super sweet cuddly medium size boy. He is about 50 lbs. and probably needs to put on a few pounds to be at the average weight for a male setter. Milton has been friendly with all size dogs and people since he has been in our home as a foster - he's also fine around cats, but NOT rabbit safe!! He know's many commands. He comes when called, will sit, stay, and go potty when asked. He has never had an accident in the house, although he did "mark" twice inside during the initial adjustment period. He is crate trained, but needs some coaxing with a treat to get him into the crate. We are working with him daily on his hesitation in this area. He loves to go for walks on his leash and car rides. Milton is a birdy boy, and enjoys being outside smelling all the critters along the way. He gets along very well with his 3 setter "sisters" in his foster home. He loves to be petted and cuddled and to be with his people. He sleeps through the night on his big doggie pillow. He likes to lay on the couch, but will only do so when asked. We feel that the ideal home for Milton would be a family with at least 1 or 2 other doggie companions, in a home that is fairly active and will take him with them on family outings. As with all Setters, he will need to get regular exercise and will require a fenced in yard. Won't you consider sweet Milton as a new member of your family in 2008? See more pictures of this beautiful boy on Milton's blog.
IBR requires a fenced in yard for all adoptables.
Due to the fact that these dogs have come from shelters or abuse or neglect situations, and unless we have tested these dogs on upland birds and feel they are confident and ready to work as a hunter with families where they will be trained with kindness and patience, we will only adopt to pet home.
If you are interested in adopting this pet, please fill out an online adoption application.
