Hi I'm Arthur. I am quite a handsome guy. On February 5, 2023 I moved into this neat foster home with my brothers and sisters. Our original owner person didn't mean to have babies, we were an accidental litter. (Oops!) Our mom is 1/2 Lab, 1/2 German Shepherd and our dad is purebred German Shepherd Dog. My birthday is in mid-Dec. 2022 and I weighed 8 pounds when I moved to KY, and by April I weighed 32 pounds. I now weigh 75 pounds.
I love my foster friends, especially Scout. Scout is looking for her forever home too! We really love each other (hint hint) I get along with all the dogs I've met but I really don't like those cats. I don't know why but they really get me too excited. I love people and playing the most. I'm super smart and have already learned things like sit and shake and I haven't had any accidents inside since I was a baby puppy! I have lots of energy and would love my person to do things with me. I don't like being alone and will need help being completely alone. It is very scary for me.
Arthur will be a wonderful addition to a family who will give him lots of love and care. Like all dogs, a puppy will be happiest when he is involved with his family and their activities his whole life. Our foster families do their best to begin their house-training and Arthur hasn't had any accidents inside for months.
He is up to date on vaccines, has had a fecal test and dewormer and is microchipped and on heartworm prevention and flea and tick prevention.
We think he will be a large size dog when grown.
If you are ready for the love and also the work, time, patience, expense and commitment required to care for a dog for its entire life, we welcome your adoption application! Sending us a completed application at www.ForThePets.org is the very first step so be sure to do that first thing! The adoption donation is $200.
The adoption donation also includes a discount for AKC Canine Good Citizen Obedience Class.
When applying for any adoption, please be aware that The Humane Society office is open Mon - Thurs from 10 - 3. We will respond to any inquiries or adoption submissions sent during non-office hours on the next day we are in the office. Thank you for your understanding!
Dog Adoption Guidelines:
You must fill out an application to be considered for adoption. Send your application in directly at www.ForThePets.org. You can email us with any questions at [email protected].
It is not a first come process; we try to match the dog with the family for a FOREVER home. We process all applications at once and take the dog off the site, place on adoption pending status until a decision is made. If a suitable home match is not found, the dog returns to active status.
The dog adoption process can take up to two weeks; we are a small group of volunteers who mostly have full time jobs.
All of our dogs are indoor dogs with outdoor privileges, unless otherwise specified.
We do not fly or ship our dogs due to heat/cold concerns and safety issues. If you are willing to fly out AND fly the dog back in the cabin (size restrictions) with you, that would be considered.
If you apply to adopt a dog and are chosen, you must come to Murray, KY to pick up the dog and fill out the paperwork in person.
We do adopt out-of-state, but we do not transport.
We can't provide individual meet and greet sessions for each applicant. If chosen to adopt, you will have plenty of time for your family and pets to visit with the potential new family member before signing any paperwork and will not be committed to adopt if you choose not to at that time.
