My Story

IF THIS LISTING IS STILL UP, the pet is still available for adoption! Inquiries asking about availability will not be answered. E-mails or contact forms that are submitted prior to completing an adoption application will not be answered. ***Please read this first, as it answers the majority of questions we receive*** Please do not contact us about specific dogs until you have completed our Adoption Application FIRST --- located at www.aussierescue.org Once we receive your application, we will contact you. This chapter receives only applications from applicants living in Texas and Oklahoma. If you live outside of TX or OK, you will need to contact our organizations Management Team first: [email protected]. Out-of-state adoptions are considered on a case-by-case basis. Our organization requires prospective adopters to complete an approval process prior to meeting with dogs in our program. This includes: *Completion of Adoption Application *Veterinarian Check *Reference Checks (non-relatives) *Home Visit Our ultimate goal is to screen and counsel potential homes to the best of our ability in an effort to find the most perfect match and fit for their lifestyle. Please keep in mind that color and appearance of the available dog is last on our priority list, and will have no bearing on adoption placement decisions. Please refrain from contacting members of our organization or asking about specific dogs/potential matches until after your screening process has been completed and approved. ***$300 Adoption Fee*** -------------------------------------------------------- ABOUT DREYFUS: Rep: Kim Griswold / [email protected] Dreyfus is located in Groesbeck, TX and it is required that you travel there to meet him in person within 10 days of application approval if you want to adopt (exceptions can be made for out-of-state applicants). We do need the entire party to be involved when meeting available dogs, including every family member and dog(s) that currently live in your home. Dreyfus was surrendered to our organization along with his mom and 3 brothers after his owner experienced a sudden lifestyle change due to divorce. Dreyfus was born on 11/27/2023 and he is growing like a weed! He will likely be between 40-50lbs as an adult. Dreyfus is a sweet boy that is learning manners as an indoor family companion. He is intelligent, smart, and loving. He is an expert bug hunter and likes to catch them as one of his favorite past times. He has learned his name, is learning to walk on a leash, and had his first bath. He even let his foster mom comb him out! From Dreyfus’ foster mom: “Dreyfus is housebroken, crate trained, knows sit and has good recall. He goes to the door when he needs to go out. He sleeps in a crate and keeps it clean. He sleeps through the night, at least 8 hours. He has been exposed to both men and women. He is just learning leash walking. Not good at it, but learning. We have been taking him to parks and walking him to provide some exposure to the outside world. Dreyfus is medium energy both inside and outside, periods of zoomies with rest periods. He loves people, greets with a wiggle tail. He loves children, but is a little too rough at this stage. He is good with other dogs. When play with a larger dog is getting too rough, Dreyfus will run to us for help rather than run away. He doesn’t panic; he looks for help. This is also true with loud noises or anything else that concerns him. He will run from you if he thinks it is a game, so good control until he gets past this stage is important. Dreyfus loves the dogs at the vet’s office and is very glad to see them. No exposure to cats but he loves watching the deer, birds and opossums that we have living on our property and the cows across the fence are fascinating. He does not come into contact with them, just watches from inside his dog yard.” As with any puppy, he is working on potty-training, crate-training, and due to teething, he wants to put everything in his mouth. Plenty of toys and enrichment items will help steer him in the right direction. His 3 favorite things are eating, running after a toy, and crawling into a lap for cuddles. He is a happy boy that is looking for a perfect family to call his own!
