My Story

Aria Age: 2 Gender: Female Breed: Pit mix Weight: 57lbs Potty Trained: Yes Cats: Probably Not Dogs: Probably Not Kid friendly: No Energy Level: Medium leaning couch potato Vaccinated: Yes Spayed: Yes Microchipped: Yes Heartworm: Negative Location: Aria is being fostered in Chicago, IL. No out of state applicants, please. Aria’s name was chosen because it means noble and lioness. She came from a court confiscation case involving 23 dogs being kept in despicable conditions in one apartment – of that group, Aria seemed to be a matriarch.  She is an urban cliché: dog breeding, guns, and drugs comprised her former life. Aria is a resilient survivor. Aria demonstrates growth and increased confidence every single day. It is so rewarding to watch a dog who had nothing her entire life, learn that she deserves comfort, love, and fun in her everyday life.  Aria loves to cuddle. She has such soft fur and loves to receive belly rubs and reciprocated affection. She would make an excellent WFH companion because she is able to just relax and snooze while her person does projects around the house or participates in work meetings. Aria currently has a yard to play in, but she does not require one, as 95% of her time outside she just wants to hop onto the seat next to you. She allows handling all over and every morning she wakes us up with silly excitement and kisses of gratitude. She loves to co-sleep and is not disruptive, but will also sleep in her crate in your room if you prefer.  Aria is treat motivated and enjoys puzzle enrichment activities. She likes to play with toys and will easily trade for treats. Aria give puppy dog pouting eyes like a pro when she wants something from you or when she does NOT want to do something, like when asked to go into her crate.  She complies, but is extra adorable in the way she will lay down right outside of her crate instead and look up at you hoping you will cave and let her stay out with you a little longer. Aria is a respectful passenger in the car and is just happy to get to go wherever her person is going. She is completely unphased by excessive fireworks, thunderstorms, tornadoes, and any other loud disturbances.  Aria has good leash manners. She is not reactive, even when passing reactive dogs. Aria has never barked at any passing people or dogs while on leashed walks. She enjoys her walks and would make a great adventure buddy, but she also does not demand high amounts of exercise or entertainment. She is overall a very chill homebody. While we do think she would be happiest as the only pet in her home, she is currently living the “crate and rotate” lifestyle with 3 other dogs in the home. In that environment she is able to be her beautiful relaxed self and is not upset knowing there are other dogs in her home. We just would love to see how she could blossom even more being in a home where she would be allowed to 100% enjoy her environment and her people full time without restrictions on time and spaces in her living arrangement. Aria deserves to have that after being forced to live full time in a small cage in an apartment with 22 other dogs.   She knows words including: WAIT, NO, STOP, OKAY, SIT, COME, UP-UP, GO IN YOUR HOUSE (crate). She is completely non-destructive in the home. She has been left unsupervised with shoes, laptop, pillows, bed etc and has never damaged anything that was not one of her toys. Aria recently had to go to the vet and at pick up we were told she was a very good girl during her drop off visit!  Who would be Aria’s amazing best home? A person or couple who are really looking for a calm, curious loving best friend who wants to hang out with them and who will patiently help her keep learning – I believe that she would love to be someone’s treasured only pet – the kind of pal you look forward to seeing when you come home and you are excited to take on new adventures.  She’s such a wise old soul and deserves to get to share her loving nature with her new family.
